Biomechanical Assessment

You’re one of a kind. The way you move is unique to you. So, before you take any advice from anyone about how you should walk or run, make sure you understand your body first.

Your body adapts to forces that are applied to it when you walk and run, and these forces are what causes overuse injury and pain in most cases.

We take the time to get to know you. We want to know your goals, your physical activity preferences, and most importantly the way your body moves – the mechanics of your movement.

What's Involved?

We start with an understanding of your medical and injury history, how your body moves and deals with these forces, as well as any functional or structural issues that could predispose you to injury.

We complete a specific range of lower limb measurements, to see how your body is put together, and then follow this up with a range of dynamic studies – to help us give you a better understanding of why you may be experiencing any symptoms.

Usually this will involve a combination of static range of motion studies, on ground or treadmill gait analysis, force plate pressure mapping, and footwear observation as well as a personalised prescription.

This allows us to give you a better understanding of how your unique feet work, what that means in the context of your symptoms (if you have any) or performance outcomes.

More importantly, once we have done this, we spend time formulating a short and long term management plan so that you leave with a very clear course of action to ensure you get back to your best, and reduce the chance of recurrence.
