Shin Splints

Shin Splints is another one of those umbrella terms that covers any pain you may experience in the front or side of your lower legs.

Typically though, by far the most common form of shin splints is a condition called Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome (MTSS), which is an overuse condition that leads to excessive stress through the tibia, which is inside leg bone, mainly in it’s lower third.

However, while this is the most common form we see, there are other forms of shin splints that are, or can turn into a much more serious condition if left untreated.

So whether it’s early stage soreness after training, or pain that stops you playing, checking your biomechanics, gait patterns and footwear is definitely a good thing when it comes to shin splints.
